3D Viewer - Posted by: Stino

I've had this idea already for a long time, but i didn't know how it could be done. Now, after the Cold War Crisis Site (the mod of our ex-tfh guys) is online, i've seen there what i want... a 3D viewer. So, i've been playing around with it and now you all can see the 3D viewer.
You only have to download the Cult3D ActiveX Player. This would automatically pop-up and you should hit the 'Yes' button. If it doesn't automatically pops up then hit this link to download the Cult3D ActiveX Player.
The models and skins aren't viewed with the best qualities since they were compressed to reduce the filesize. The models that are now up for viewing are:
- The Sherman
- The PanzerIV
- The Mustang P-51
I'll put up more soon.

Have fun seeing the models from every position.

There's a exclusive screenshot on CNC Den from The Finest Hour. It shows off our German supply center attacked by P51-Mustangs and a group of USA tanks and infantry. The screenshot is taken in our new map El Alamein, made by Zealot.

Stuka Attacks - Posted by: Stino

Junkers JU-87B "Stuka"
The Stuka was the most famous of all planes used by the Germans as a divebomber. The Germans fitted the wheel covers with sirens that were used once the planes went into a dive sound to make the stuka sound more dangerous. We'll use a better sound in-game, but we won't give that away.

The Stuka can't be build, but it'll be a special attack, which is basically working like the A-10 in Generals. The model was made by SFC and skinned by Widowmaker. These guys left our team a month ago, but we can still use the stuff they've made. Here are some pics of four Stukas bombing (they're diving!) a group of USA tanks in a small village:

We also got some renders of the stuka in our forum. Also be sure you check those.

Moved to new server
It took longer than I thought, but we've finally moved to the new server.

Forums offline
The Forums will be offline between the 15th and the 18th, because the forums will move in that period. Then you also can't access our forums.

Edit: The forums are now offline

Sad Day - Posted by: Stino

A few spots on the TFH team has opened up, as 5 of our members: HEXman (coder), darky (models), Widowmaker (texturing), SFC (models) and SHADOW (researcher/WW2 Historian) have just announced out of the blue and without any warning that they are leaving TFH. All work done by these modders to date will remain in the mod, but they will take no further part in the development of The Finest Hour as of Saturday, March 6th.

I guess it is futile of me to try and express how much of a heavy blow this mass walkout is to the remaining mod team. All I can say is we need replacments, although I know it will be extremly hard to find suitable replacments for the skills we have lost.
The two most important placments we need to fill are:

- INI Coder.
We need someone who is experienced in coding INI for Generals. You will be needed to implement new things into Generals. I wont go to far into details here but HEXman brought some fantasic pieces of coding into TFH, we need someone who is really good and creative to replace him.

- Skinner.
This will be the most hardest spot to fill. As we all know, Skinners are a rare speices amongst C&C modders, and the very good ones are almost impossible to find. Widowmaker made some incredible, photorealistic skins for TFH, his skills will be sadly missed and I'm not confident that we will ever be able to replace him. If you want to be a skinner for TFH you must be really good and must be willing to do a lot of work. We will want to see many examples of your work before taking you on.

If you want to join the team, and you've got some good skills, e-mail me at webmaster@the-finest-hour.net

I want to say thanks to HEXman (2312222), Widowmaker, darky, SFC and SHADOW. It was a short but great time to have you guys in the team. Thanks for all the things you've done.

-Stino

Their haven't been news for a while, but that's good. It means we're still workin very hard. Our staff can already download a alpha version of the mod. And i've to say it looks very good for an alpha. You'll get some screenshots very soon.

We got two new members: SFC (modeler) and Widowmaker (skinner). This guys are producing some very good work here.

Widowmaker (with some help of HEXman) made some very nice looking Wallpapers of recently rendered units.

Take a look how they fit with your desktop!

We've a little preview of our Japanese infantry in the Screenshot Section.
Mongoose modeled and boned the infantry and Tanka made a cool skin for it. You'll also see the Sherman on the pics with a nice new skin.

We've also added the new screens of German Infantry. They're battling with some Japanese Infantry and Tanks, Enjoy!
